The Eritrean community in Colorado, numbering roughly 6,000 and centered around Denver and Aurora, grew significantly from the 1980s–90s through refugee resettlement fleeing civil war and repression. Known for high solidarity and working-middle-class roots, they are culturally active, politically engaged in Colorado and US politics
